Jaren geleden had Gertjan van Dijk zijn eigen beddenzaak in hartje Kampen. Op een dag kreeg hij de vraag of hij een bed kon leveren om aan een zorgbed te koppelen. Hij zocht en zocht, maar het bleek niet te bestaan. Daarom besloot hij zelf een logeerbed voor de zorg te ontwikkelen. In 2018 bracht hij vanuit zijn nieuwe bedrijf Multisleep het Couplebed op de markt. En met succes: het bed wordt inmiddels door zorgorganisaties in binnen- en buitenland gebruikt.
Het Couplebed kreeg landelijke bekendheid dankzij de Roparun, een estafetteloop van Parijs naar Rotterdam. In 2018 werd een deel van de opbrengst gebruikt om maar liefst 500 Couplebedden beschikbaar te stellen aan de zorg. Veel organisaties dienden een aanvraag in. En beschikken sindsdien over een prachtig product om cliënten en hun naasten dicht bij elkaar te brengen.
